Summer Travel With Diabetes: Having Fun While Staying Healthy

The Summer is nearly over, (whoa that went fast!) But, it isn’t too late to plan a trip before the cool air starts coming in. Packing and planning a summer getaway can be a stressful for anyone, but when you have Diabetes it can be a little more trying. Here are a few tips that can help you to stop worrying about keeping your Diabetes in check, and keep you having fun.

-         Pack more medication than you need. ( Always better to have too much than too little)
-         Keep your medical information on hand ( The CADEX 12 alarm watch is great to take with you on trips and will hold all your emergency medical information)
-         Pack snacks to take on your trip in case your blood glucose drops or delays in flights.
-         Keep time zone changes in mind so you'll know when to take medication.
-         Find out where to get medical care if needed when away from home.
-         Keep meters, test strips and insulin out of direct sunlight.
-         Stay Hydrated.

These are just a few tips, but remember to listen to your body and stay healthy!

Helping A Loved One Accept A Medication Reminder

Being given a medication reminder can be difficult for some people to accept. No matter what age you are, what health condition you may be suffering from, the thought of placing something in your home to help you remember to take your medications can be tough for someone to swallow (no pun intended) .

This can be a tough situation for family member and friends. You want to care for your loved ones and make sure they are staying healthy and taking their medications at the correct time every day, but you don’t want them to feel belittled or disrespected. That person doesn’t want to feel like they need something to intrude on their life, they don’t want to feel they are too absent minded to remember to take their medications themselves. Of course, no one is at fault. Life happens, life gets busy and life gets complicated and having a medication reminder to help them get through the day is the best thing for them.

When you are faced with the difficult task of telling your loved one that they need something like an e-pill medication reminder to help them to remember to take the correct meds at the correct time, remember to be understanding and look at it from their perspective. Making sure that they understand it is in their best interest. This will help them live a happier healthier life.

ID Bracelet/Band : It’s Not as Bad As You Think!

FREE id-band with any size order from http://www.cadexwatch.com/!

As if dealing with a disease or health condition isn’t hard enough, now you have to display something for the whole world to see? The doctors tell you to wear a medical ID bracelet so in case of an emergency someone will know what medications you are on, what health conditions you may suffer from, allergies, and medical history, so that all the correct precautions are taken.

This of course makes perfect sense, but still after all the possible scenarios that could go wrong people still don’t comply with their doctor’s request. It is hard to wear something that will reveal to people you have a health condition, but not every ID bracelet has to be so revealing and obvious.

The e-pill CADEX watch is maybe the perfect solution for you. It looks like a regular sports watch, no big signs or words, just a regular looking watch..but it is actually much more. This watch has a regular watch face, but has an alert button which can be pressed to reveal one’s name, number, emergency contact, medical conditions, allergies, up to 12 medication reminder alarms, blood type, and more. This is a great watch because you are keeping your medical information all in one place, it is easily concealed as regular watch, and you can have up to 12 reminder alarms to take your medications daily.

Don’t miss out on an exclusive offer to receive a free medical ID On Me bracelet when ordering something from http://www.cadexwatch.com/ This promo will be going on between May 23rd 2012 to June 1st 2012. You must make your order by phone and mention the free medical ID On Me bracelet when calling. Please select color “Blue” or “Pink”.

Helpful Ways To Manage Your Parent's Medications

They took care of you your whole life, and now it is time that you take care of them.

As parents age, we as their children are faced with more responsibilities and tasks to make sure they stay as healthy as possible.

One of the tasks we may face is the organization and adherence of their medications. Whether you live close to your parents or far away, these tips can help keep your parents happy and healthy.

An Automatic Pill Dispenser May Be The Answer For your Parents.

 1. Make a list of all your parent’s medications and write a small description of what the prescription is used for. You can also request a "Brown Bag" Checkup with the local pharmacist . A Brown Bag checkup is when one will take all of their medications (OTC as well) and review them with their pharmacist.

2. Review your parent’s medications at each visit. Make sure the medications they are taking are not outdated and make sure all are refilled at the correct times.

3. Consider getting a pill box timer or medication dispenser for your parents. This will keep them compliant and will help them avoid medication errors.
For those whose parents live far away an e-pill MedSmart Plus may be a good idea. This is a monitored automatic pill dispenser that will alert you if after 60 minutes the dose was missed.

Helping a parent or parents manage their medications can feel like a huge burden, but by following these tips it doesn't have to be.

Asthma in the Spring

Spring is just around the corner and with beautiful spring flowers, comes not so pretty allergies. Asthma attacks and/or worsening of asthma symptoms can be triggered by seasonal allergies, which is why it is important to be prepared for the coming months.

An inhaler is going to be used more often during allergy season, so make sure you are always prepared. Visit www.epill.com to learn about our PuffMinder DOSER.

The e-pill PuffMinder DOSER will track the use of medication taken from a Metered Dose Inhaler. It will alert you once there are less than 20 inhalations in your inhaler. This is a reliable and easy to use device that will help to ensure you are never stranded without inhaler medications.

Here are some more tips on relieving seasonal allergies:

-         Stay indoors on dry windy days.
-         Always remove clothes you have been wearing outside.
-         Keep windows closed and use air conditioning in the home.
-         If you have forced air heating or air conditioning in your house, use high-efficiency filters.
-         Avoid outdoors when pollen count is high.
